Emanuel DavidDavid began his musical career in the fourth grade when he took up the saxophone, as his father had done before him. As a young child, David was entranced by the clarinet voicing of Klezmer music, listening to his father and legendary Klezmer musician Dave Taras play in his home along with recordings of Taras's. Although David did not long pursue the saxophone, he eventually found his way to the bass, and has been playing it in one form or another for over thirty years. He counts Paul McCartney, Chris Squire, Greg Lake, and Mick Karn as his main influences. Having written, arranged and performed music throughout his teen years he eventually joined Sal in the early 1980s as The Allies, an original, new wave band which morphed into This Part of the Body, a quasi alternative music band. TPOTB created music of a profoundly spiritual and positive nature, often said to be a melding of progressive and new wave strains - Genesis-meets-Joy Division, if you will. David then moved to Mexico City where he found a warm welcome in Mexico's blossoming music scene during the 90s, playing with blues bands and with some of Mexico's more renowned rockers. Among the stellar personalities David has had the privilege and honor of working with are drummer Charlie Hauptvogel, the founder of Three Souls in My Mind [now fronted by Alexandro Lora as El Tri], drummer/singer/songwriter Abraham Calleros, founding member with two other siblings of Mana, one of Latin America's most successful pop music acts. David also worked with guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Octavio Soto when they founded Delta Sur, a vibrant blues band along with Charlie Hauptvogel. With Delta Sur, David and the band were cast into the national limelight when they recorded four videos for Mexico's cultural TV station Canal 22. From there, national tours and headlining at some of Mexico City's most prestigious clubs soon followed. David returned to the USA in late 2002, and soon began work with Sal on the soundtrack to "Rush Junkys". Now back with Sal in a new project named Jaded Soul, David is recording and again writing and arranging with Sal, as they once had done a generation before.
